CADER stands for Communities for Advanced Distributed Energy Resources. Formerly, the group was a California Alliance focused on single technologies. Now our membership is expanding internationally. We've changed what our acronym stands for to represent our focus the very latest, most efficient technologies and how these can be integrated into communities. We are very excited about these changes. We invite you to join the celebration at the upcoming CADER Conference!

CADER was founded inside the California Energy Commission in 1998. The leadership and much of the support came from inside the Commission. Eric Wong was the first Chair. A Conference was held in early 1999, and was very successful-- the organization was launched! Later in 1999, Jairam Gopal, also of the California Energy Commission, took over as Chair. At that point, the organization was ready to move out on its own; it was set up as a 501-C6 Trade Organization. CADER, Inc. is incorporated in the State of California as a non-profit organization as of August 11, 1999. In 2007, former California Energy Commission Commissioner David Rohy became Chair, a position he still holds.
